Foster House has been specifically established to meet the individual needs of service users with complex or severe learning disabilities. This may include people with Autistic Spectrum Disorders, behavioural needs or specialised patterns of living.
The home opened in 2007, the provision of facilities for the service users has been designed to provide a flatlet type arrangement with 1 service user living downstairs and 1 upstairs, there is a communal garden to the rear.
This approach enables people with individual complex needs to be supported within the one facility as each individual has their own private space.
The house is a semi-detached property in a normal residential setting, close to lots of local amenities. For football fans Plymouth Argyle FC is approximately one mile away.
The house has a multi person vehicle for use of the service users. The transport and mobility needs of people living at Foster House is met by a combination of walks to local shops, use of public transport using the house vehicle for longer journeys.
Each person has a Person Centred Plan and they contribute to their own plan which defines their daily living routine and preferences for activities etc.
The current manager of Foster House is Martin Malloch.
